The Musical Instruments Playable in the Butterfly's Dream

Greetings!

In the Butterfly’s Dream, we designed several puzzles inspired by ancient Chinese musical instruments: Qin, Bianzhong, and Dizi. Let's take a look! All screenshots listed below are work in progress.

Qin

This Qin puzzle is inspired by an ancient seven-string zither, named Guqin (古琴)[1]. Guqin is favored by scholars in ancient China and often represents high culture. The quiet sounds of guqin are great for meditation and zen experiences.

Bianzhong

The design of the five-colored-bell puzzle is based on Bianzhong (编钟)[2], or Chime Bells. The most famous found ceremonial set consists of 65 bells (well, 65 bells would be too many for Mei’s house).

Dizi (Open-key flute)

The magic flute puzzle is a simplified version of Dizi (笛子)[3]. It’s often made from bamboo and is still popular today. The sound is bright, clear and very expressive, depending on the player’s skill.
